Who’s going to M7?
Kansas City-Mission 2007 (M7), the mid-quadrennial conference on mission and evangelism, will be held in Kansas City February 19 to 21, 2007. I have never been to one of these, but it is my understanding that this year there will be an emphasis “doing ministry in a post modern world.” So when my district offered to send me I decided it might be a good opportunity to check out the conversation coming from Kansas City and hopefully connect with some of you who also may be going.
Looking over the website for M7 I found this statement, “M7 provides an opportunity for the Nazarene family to consider ministry in an unfamiliar, post-modern world.” I am encouraged even by the acknowledgment that Nazarene Church culture is largely unfamiliar with the culture of the world they live in. I have no idea what the Church of the Nazarene will do with this realization at this conference but this appears to be a genuine attempt to speak to this issue. I am not really looking forward to most of the plenary speakers, but there does seem to be a good number of workshops I would want to check out; some of them being led by people I have come in contact with here.
This leads me to the point of this post. For those that may be going, or even thinking about it, this event could provide a great opportunity to hook up and get some face time with one another that the blog world just can not provide. So let us know if you plan on going. If you are leading a session or just look forward to checking one out, feel free to give that session a plug in the comments and encourage us to attend. Most of all, I am looking forward to hooking up with others during the down times; grabbing some drinks at someplace relaxing, having some conversation, and getting to know more of you better.
So, let us know if you plan on being around at M7.
Peace,
James
